Any permanent makeup procedure involves tattooing, so you should consider scheduling it in advance if you are interested in undergoing one.

Make sure you are well prepared for the treatment in order to achieve the greatest results. The skin's preparation is crucial, but it's not only about what you put in your body and what you do; there are other factors to consider while preparing your skin for permanent makeup.

There are several considerations to make depending on the treatment you'll be performing. Let's go over the most crucial advice for each type of procedures.

Take a look at the basic preparation guidelines for your PMU session, regardless of the treatment you're receiving.

How to get ready for Permanent Eyebrows

Your preparation can affect the treatment's outcomes. Consider it similar to applying a primer to improve the results of your makeup. Whatever procedure you are having (microblading, powder brows, nano brows, etc.), your skin and entire system should be primed by the time you show up for your appointment.

To avoid allergic reactions, you should also perform a patch test.

The preparation suggestions for a Powder Brows appointment (or any other permanent brow makeup treatment):

  • One month before procedure - avoid using retinol, salicylic acid, harsh chemical peels, acne treatments, and facials. Your skin may become more reactive and sensitive when exposed to harsh substances. Additionally, retinol in particular can speed up the early fading of the pigments.

  • Wait one month before getting a permanent brow treatment if you had Botox or fillers in the area of your forehead. Your eyebrows may become asymmetrical because Botox takes some time to work. The best time to have permanent makeup eyebrows is before Botox. Your PMU won't be impacted by Botox, but you should wait until your skin has healed before injecting it to prevent further skin trauma.

  • For 10 days prior to the session avoid taking any medications or supplements that will thin your blood. Due to increased bleeding, this makes it tougher for skin to hold colour and makes the artist's task more challenging. Ask your doctor if you can temporarily stop taking any medications you are taking for a medical condition until you are finished getting your permanent brow.

  • Avoid waxing, threading, dyeing, and at least a week before the appointment.

  • Reduce bleeding by abstaining from alcohol and caffeine at least 24 hours prior to your appointment and by skipping your workout that day.

How Should I prepare for a Lip Blush treatment?

There are many different styles for this process. Whichever one you select, you won't have to worry about smudge or have to reapply lipstick all the time.

The first step in getting ready for a permanent lip is deciding on the best style for you. It is suggested that you first speak with your artist.

To avoid allergic reactions, you should also perform a patch test. You can start preparing once you've decided on the style you desire.

  • The days before the treatment, exfoliation and lip moisturization are the most crucial stages. Smooth lips make it easier to apply colour as evenly as possible.

  • Wait at least 6 weeks and let your lip fillers settle if you have them. If you want lip fillers after getting a lip blush but don't currently have any, get the permanent makeup first, then add the fillers. Otherwise, there is a tiny potential that lip damage will cause filler to migrate. Even if it's unlikely, you should be prepared for it.

  • Ask your doctor if it's possible to stop taking any blood-thinning medication around 10 days prior to your appointment.

  • For 24 hours before to the visit, avoid taking any blood-thinning supplements. This includes alcohol, caffeine, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, niacin, and vitamins. Inadvertent bleeding and swelling will be reduced as a result.

  • Take antiviral medicine prior to your appointment if you are prone to cold sores because there is a chance that they may appear as a result of skin trauma. Avoiding cold sores is advised since they can interfere with the healing process. Ask your doctor to recommend a medication.

Another piece of advice: Be ready for the healing process.

It may be wise to postpone booking the appointment just before a major event because the healing process requires time and you might not look your best during it. You should also keep in mind that there will be some activities you must skip, such as gym, swimming and direct sun exposure, so planning a vacation will also be important.

Finally, I want to emphasise the need of mental preparation. Be aware that the complete results won't be available for several weeks, and be ready to wait out the healing process. Clients may feel even more stressed as a result of treatment's immediate negative effects, but it's crucial to keep in mind that those are not final results.

It can be stressful to wait for the final results to appear. If you're impatient, you risk ruining the outcome by interfering with the healing process.

Thus, my final bit of advice is to simply unwind. Ensure appropriate preparation and let your artist handle the work.
